North Korea's Lazarus group is believed to be behind the $1.46 billion hack on Bybit exchange, according to blockchain analysis firm Arkham Intelligence.
The hack involved the withdrawal of Ethereum tokens amounting to around $1.5 billion, making it the largest hack in history on a centralized crypto exchange.
The stolen funds were initially transferred to a primary wallet, then distributed across over 40 wallets, with the attackers converting certain tokens to ETH and transferring ETH in increments to additional wallets.
Bybit CEO confirmed that 80% of the funds were recovered through bridge loans, and although withdrawals are not blocked, the return of stolen tokens is highly unlikely.
