Residents of Hadsel, Norway, express relief as a noisy Bitcoin mining facility is shut down.
The closure of the facility leads to a rise in electricity bills for the town, as it contributed 20% of the income for local electricity provider Noranett.
The Hadsel Bitcoin mining center consumed around 80 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of 3,200 households.
The town is now seeking new projects to manage electricity consumption and avoid higher power costs.
