Laxman Narasimhan, the Indian-origin CEO of Starbucks, was fired on August 13 and replaced by Brian Niccol of Chipotle. Speculation is rife online that his termination was due to his stance on work-life balance
Narasimhan’s Fortune interview went viral after his dismissal, in which he stated, "I am very disciplined about balance...Anything after 6 pm and I am in town, it's got to be a pretty high bar to keep me away from the family."
While some netizens found this admirable, others deemed it arrogant, suggesting, "If you say something like this when the stock price is doing well, you sound like a genius. But if it’s not doing well...you get fired."
