OpenAI has introduced data residency in Asia allowing organisations in Japan, India, Singapore, and South Korea to store data locally while using its products.
Data residency feature enables API customers and ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu users to have their content stored at rest in supported countries, including conversations, prompts, uploaded files, and context across different mediums.
OpenAI ensures robust data privacy, security, and compliance features supporting various organisations across Asia, including Kakao, SoftBank, Grab, and Singapore Airlines.
OpenAI is using AES-256 encryption for data at rest and TLS 1.2+ for data in transit, supporting compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws, and adhering to CSA STAR and SOC 2 Type 2 standards.
