Nvidia is releasing an AI foundation model for humanoid robotics called Groot N1, which is a 'generalist' model trained on synthetic and real data.
Groot N1 features a 'dual system architecture' inspired by human cognitive processes, allowing the robot to perceive and reason about its environment and instructions as well as translate plans into actions.
Nvidia is making Groot N1 available in open source, along with simulation frameworks and blueprints for generating synthetic training data.
The age of generalist robotics has arrived, according to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, although challenges remain for creating mass-produced humanoid robotic systems.
