Meta collaborates with Oakley to announce new smart glasses with improved battery life, upgraded video capabilities, and more.
The Oakley Meta glasses offer up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge, double that of the previous Ray-Ban Meta glasses, with a charging case providing an additional 48 hours of recharging on the go.
Rapid charging functionality allows the glasses to reach 50% charge in approximately 20 minutes.
Recording resolution is increased to 3K from the previous 1080p, while core features such as open-ear speakers, dual microphones, and Meta AI assistance are retained.
The glasses are designed for sport and outdoor use, featuring an IPX4 water resistance rating and Oakley's secure wraparound frame design.
Five frame and lens configurations will be available at launch, with prescription-ready options at an additional cost.
The limited-edition launch model is priced at $499 and includes gold detailing and PRIZM gold lenses.
Other styles will start at $399 and are expected to release later in the summer.
Preorders for the glasses will begin on July 11 in 15 markets, with plans for further expansion to additional countries.
