OFIS Architects revitalizes Boathouse Zaka, a 25.5-square-meter timber-clad structure along Lake Bled in Slovenia.
The boathouse features a rooftop filtration garden with wooden trays filled with stone, gravel, sand, and soil that filter lake water, serving both scientific and educational purposes.
The restoration project preserves the original timber frame and cladding while incorporating a semi-transparent cladding that filters light, air, and views.
The boathouse also houses research boats for environmental monitoring, showcasing a sustainable and educational approach to architecture in response to climate pressures and tourism around Lake Bled.
