Crypto exchange OKX has enlisted former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo as a legal advisor amid its $505 million federal settlement with U.S. authorities.
Cuomo began advising OKX following his resignation from the governorship in August 2021, providing counsel on navigating the federal investigation.
OKX pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business and agreed to pay $505 million in settlement, including $84 million in civil penalties and $421 million in forfeited fees.
OKX faces regulatory pressure, leading to the suspension of its decentralized finance (DeFi) services and a compliance upgrade.
