OMA, led by Shohei Shigematsu, designed the exhibition Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams at Seoul’s Dongdaemun Design Plaza. The exhibition departs from traditional gallery rooms and is centered around a void inspired by Korean hanok courtyard logic. The monumental reinterpretation of a Korean moon jar known as 'The Garden' features elaborate design elements by artist Hyun Joo Kim.OMA integrates Korean cultural motifs and craftsmanship into the exhibition's structure, merging Dior's atelier detail with Seoul's materiality.Spatial tricks like mirrors, cables, and scrims are used to create unique visual experiences within the exhibition.Rooms are organized non-chronologically to evoke varied spatial moods reflecting Dior's evolution over the years. The exhibition culminates with 'The Dior Ball' and the 'Stars in Dior' rooms, showcasing innovative design approaches and opulent displays.OMA's scenography draws from Hanok courtyard architecture and Korean materials to create a continuous spatial journey. The exhibition, titled Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams, was on view at Dongdaemun Design Plaza from April 19th to July 13th, 2025.The project aimed to blend Dior's iconic fashion legacy with OMA's architectural vision, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience.
