RAVA is an open-source hardware RNG based on avalanche breakdown method for generating true random numbers.
The device uses a pair of Zener diodes to apply high voltage in the reverse bias direction, causing an avalanche of electrons and generating random data.
The random noise is amplified over op amps and fed to an ATmega32U4 microcontroller, providing 136.0 Kbit/s of random data.
RAVA offers a truly random method, is accessible for monitoring and replacement, and is open-source in nature.
