Optical chip interconnect startup Ayar Labs has raised $155 million in a funding round led by Advent Global Opportunities and Light Street Capital.
Several leading chipmakers, including Nvidia, AMD, Intel, and GlobalFoundries, also participated in the funding round.
Ayar Labs aims to address bottlenecks in AI by using optical interconnects, which can transmit more data faster compared to traditional electrical interconnects.
With the funding, Ayar Labs plans to scale its optical interconnect module, TeraPHY, to enable faster chip-to-chip communications.
