Complaints of overcharging and denial of treatment by private hospitals to CGHS card holders have led to the issuance of 15-point guidelines by the CGHS headquarters under the Health Ministry.
Prescriptions should be written in generic names and in capital letters, and private hospitals must accept medicines supplied by CGHS.
Hospitals are prohibited from denying services to eligible beneficiaries and must prominently display the availability of beds in different wards and ICUs.
Strict action, including FIR and de-empanelment or blacklisting, will be taken against hospitals found submitting fake bills or failing to adhere to the guidelines.
