Over 200 members working on Overwatch have officially joined the Communication Workers of America (CWA) to form a 'wall-to-wall' union known as the Overwatch Gamemakers Guild-CWA (OWGG-CWA).
The unionization movement aims to address subpar working conditions and respond to ongoing layoffs in the gaming industry, with over 2,600 represented workers across Microsoft-owned studios and over 6,000 workers in North America.
The unionization efforts at Blizzard started with QA workers at Raven Software, followed by World of Warcraft devs forming a wall-to-wall union, highlighting the need for worker protection amidst Microsoft's stalled talks with unionized QA workers at ZeniMax.
The unionization within the gaming industry continues to grow, with Overwatch developers joining CWA to advocate for improved working conditions and fair treatment.
