Palmer Luckey, the CEO of Anduril and the founder of Oculus, revealed that he invested in Meta (formerly known as Facebook) after its rebranding in 2021, despite being fired from the company in 2016.
Luckey acknowledged that he was initially skeptical of the metaverse concept but decided to invest all his liquid cash in Meta shares following the name change.
While the popularity of the metaverse declined in the tech industry, Meta (formerly Facebook) emphasized a renewed focus on AI and plans to invest $60-65 billion in capital expenditure for 2025.
Palmer Luckey expressed his belief that public communications may not accurately reflect the true strategic priorities of a company and acknowledged that his own priorities for 2026 have not been publicly discussed.
