Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) may cancel licenses of Long Distance International (LDI) companies due to outstanding unpaid dues worth billions.
Out of nine LDI companies, five have paid PKR 64 billion in dues, while the remaining basic amount owed is PKR 24 billion.
Five operators have shown willingness to pay the remaining dues in installments, amounting to PKR 8.2 billion, but some companies are not cooperating.
If dues are not cleared, PTA may issue show-cause notices and cancel licenses, potentially impacting 50% of mobile services and 40% of ATM operations nationwide.
