Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is taking measures to address internet speed and quality issues in the country.
The challenges include the availability of additional spectrum, deployment of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) backhaul, Right of Way (RoW) constraints, load shedding, theft, vandalism, excessive VPN usage, and cuts in submarine cables.
PTA has focused on infrastructure upgrades, installation of 12,000 new sites, advanced technologies deployment, phasing out 3G, national roaming and 5G rollout, and addition of new submarine cables to enhance internet access.
Quality of Service surveys are conducted regularly, and legal actions are taken against non-compliant operators.
