Racist videos created with Google's AI tool Veo 3 are going viral on TikTok, garnering millions of views, containing racist tropes targeting Black people.
Media Matters identified these AI-generated videos with the Veo watermark, some with hashtags related to Veo 3 or AI, with clips lasting eight seconds each, in line with Veo 3's limit.
Google launched Veo 3 in May allowing users to generate AI videos and audio from text prompts, claiming to block harmful requests. TikTok prohibits hate speech and behavior, removing accounts flagged in the report.
Some of the videos were also found on YouTube and Instagram, with content featuring antisemitism and racist depictions of immigrants and Asian individuals. Google did not immediately respond for comment.
