Ram is reportedly planning to introduce a new pickup truck in 2027, positioned below the 1500 model, to directly compete with popular models like Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux in Australia.
The upcoming Ram ute will feature a body-on-frame construction, unlike its current car-based unibody dual-cab model, and will be exclusively offered in dual-cab guise.
The smaller Ram truck, serving as a replacement for the Dakota, will enter production at Stellantis’ Belvidere plant in Illinois and is expected to rival the Ford Ranger in the US market.
There have been previous hints at a unibody pickup for the Ram range and talks of a global mid-size pickup for several years, indicating Ram's strategic move in expanding its pickup lineup.
