Reddit is suing Anthropic for allegedly using the site’s data to train AI models without a proper licensing agreement.
This legal battle makes Reddit the first Big Tech company to challenge an AI model provider over training data practices.
Several other publishers and individuals have also sued tech companies for training on their content without permission, such as The New York Times suing OpenAI and Microsoft, and Sarah Silverman suing Meta.
Reddit is seeking compensatory damages and an injunction against Anthropic for allegedly scraping its content without authorization.
