Artist Tia-Thuy Nguyen transforms a fallen tree in Hanoi into a large-scale sculptural installation titled Resurrection after Typhoon Yagi hit the city.
Using a 70-year-old Nacre tree damaged by the typhoon, Nguyen clad its remains in a metal skin made of stainless steel plates hand-hammered to resemble the tree's natural texture.
The sculpture, weighing over six tons, features reflective surfaces that interact with sunlight, creating dynamic visual effects and resembling natural growth patterns with stainless steel leaves and quartz elements.
Resurrection serves as an urban landmark, showcasing a blend of material reuse and contemporary fabrication techniques, symbolizing a transformation of the original tree through innovative design.
