Jio, the telecom arm of India’s Reliance Industries Ltd, has surpassed China Mobile to become the world’s largest mobile operator in data traffic consumption.
Jio's overall traffic reached 40.9 Exabytes in the January-March quarter, surpassing China Mobile's 38 Exabytes.
Jio has the second-largest 5G subscriber base in the world with 108 million customers, accounting for over 28% of wireless data traffic.
Jio is expected to focus on monetizing its 5G infrastructure by raising tariffs, potentially increasing Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) by 30% in the coming years.
