The European Union (EU) is investing in new electric vehicle (EV) batteries that are cheaper, more efficient, and eco-friendly.
Researchers at SINTEF have developed a new battery recipe using affordable and sustainable materials such as lithium-nickel-manganese oxide (LNMO) for the cathode and a mix of silicon and graphite for the anode.
The battery's structure has been redesigned to prevent overheating, and self-repairing technology has been incorporated to extend the battery's lifespan.
These new EV batteries will allow drivers to go farther without charging, spend less time at charging stations, and have a reduced environmental impact.
