Ripple Labs has reached a settlement with the SEC regarding the classification of its token XRP, ending years of legal battles.
The settlement involves Ripple Labs, CEO Brad Garlinghouse, and Executive Chairman Christian A. Larsen, providing clarity and potential relief for Ripple.
Under the settlement, Ripple will pay $50 million to the SEC, while the remaining $75 million penalty will be returned to Ripple.
The SEC's decision to settle does not assess the merits of the claims against Ripple but is aimed at aiding the Commission in reforming its regulatory approach to the cryptocurrency sector.
