Ripple's chairman, Chris Larsen, praises Bitcoin's energy transition towards 50% renewable sources, following Ripple's donation of 'Skull of Satoshi' artwork to the BTC community at a recent conference.
The 'Skull of Satoshi' artwork was created to advocate for a shift from Bitcoin's energy-intensive Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm to more sustainable alternatives.
Larsen reflected on the 'Change the Code' campaign, which aimed to promote a more energy-efficient mechanism for Bitcoin but did not achieve the desired result.
Despite the campaign's failure, Larsen acknowledged Bitcoin's significant energy improvements, citing a recent Cambridge study showing that 50% of Bitcoin's energy now comes from renewable sources.
