The Malaysian government will focus on repairing critically damaged roads due to a budget of RM4 billion needed to fix all damaged roads in the country.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi mentioned that repairs will be done in stages as the allocation does not cover all roads at once.
Critical roads have already been identified through the ministry's database, and urgent repairs will be prioritized over less damaged roads.
Following a bus crash in Gerik that resulted in 15 student deaths, RM55 million has been allocated for improvements on the Gerik-Jeli stretch of the East-West Highway.
The improvements include installing street lamps and road markings for enhanced visibility.
The Works Ministry is open to public feedback, including suggestions for the installation of guardrails at high-risk locations.
Feedback from the public, netizens, and stakeholders will be evaluated carefully by the ministry.
