Researchers at Johns Hopkins University and Stanford University have developed a surgical robot capable of performing procedures after watching videos of humans doing the same tasks.
Using imitation learning, the researchers trained the robot's AI brain by feeding it hundreds of videos demonstrating needle manipulation, tissue lifting, and suturing.
The AI model absorbed information about the movement of human hands and tools, allowing it to mimic the techniques using the da Vinci Surgical System.
The researchers believe this development could lead to advancements in medical robotics and safer, more precise surgeries.
