Researchers from cole Polytechnique Fdrale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia create a robotic wedding cake with dancing gummy bears powered by edible rechargeable batteries.
The gummy bears move due to an internal pneumatic system made from gelatin, syrup, and colorants, with a sweet pomegranate flavor, and are safe to eat alongside the cake.
Dark chocolate discs serve as the edible rechargeable batteries, developed with vitamin B2, quercetin, activated carbon, and chocolate, also powering LED candles on the cake.
The RoboCake project is part of the EU-funded RoboFood project, highlighting the use of robotics in gastronomy and potentially reducing electronic waste by creating edible components.
