Russia has changed its legislation to allow companies to use Bitcoin and other digital currencies for international payments, aiming to counter Western sanctions.
Russia has also legalized the use of cryptocurrencies in foreign trade and has implemented an "experimental regime" for using Bitcoin in foreign trade, with Finance Minister Anton Siluanov stating that the use of digital currencies in international payments will broaden next year.
President Vladimir Putin has expressed favor towards cryptocurrencies and stated that many countries are considering alternative assets like Bitcoin due to concerns about the abuse of the US currency for political purposes.
Russia, while embracing Bitcoin for international trade, has also implemented regulations for cryptocurrency mining, including a ban on crypto mining in 10 regions from 2025 to 2031 due to electricity shortages.
