Russian investigator, Marat Tambiyev, has been sentenced to 16 years in jail for accepting a bribe of 1,032 bitcoins worth approximately $65 million.
The bribe was given by members of the Infraud Organization hacking group, which Tambiyev was investigating while working for the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR).
Tambiyev received the bribe on the condition that the group's illegal assets would not be confiscated, allowing two members to avoid prison.
Russia has been cracking down on illicit use of cryptocurrencies, and recently arrested nearly 100 suspected cybercriminals involved in illegal activities.
