SADL conducted a successful trial of the Hybrid VTOL UAV (Rudrastra) at the Pokharan range, showcasing its operational capabilities.
The UAV covered a mission radius of over 50 km, maintained a stable real-time video link, and returned to the launch point with a total range exceeding 170 km and an endurance of about 1.5 hours.
During the trial, a precision-guided anti-personnel warhead was deployed, achieving a lethal effect over a wide radius with an airburst detonation at low altitude.
This milestone signifies progress in India's development of indigenous defense technologies and aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
SDAL also tested the 'Bhargavastra', a low-cost counter-drone solution designed for neutralizing hostile drone swarms using micro-rockets.
Tests of 'Bhargavastra' at the Seaward Firing Range validated its effectiveness in countering aerial threats, where rockets met launch parameters.
The system demonstrated adaptability, cost-effectiveness, and can be tailored with additional defenses like Jamming and Spoofing for comprehensive protection.
The successful trials of 'Bhargavastra' further reinforce the 'Make in India' mission and enhance the country's Air Defense capabilities.
