Samsung has received approval from the South Korean government for a 64-hour workweek, making it the first company in the country to do so.
The 52-hour workweek limit had posed challenges for Samsung's large-scale integration (LSI) division in meeting deadlines and production targets.
Samsung's chip division will now allow workers to work up to 64 hours a week for the first three months and up to 60 hours a week for the following three months.
Other semiconductor manufacturing companies are also seeking an extension of working hours, as NVIDIA surpasses Samsung in semiconductor revenue.
