Scientists have discovered one of the thinnest semiconductor junctions ever recorded, just 3.3 nanometers thick. The discovery was made within a material called MnBi₆Te₁₀, belonging to a class of topological insulators. The material naturally formed tiny p-n junctions, essential components in electronics, without external engineering. These natural p-n junctions show potential for future technologies like spintronics for faster and more energy-efficient devices.
