A team of scientists at the University of Queensland (UQ) has achieved a world record in solar energy efficiency. The team created a solar cell made from tin halide perovskite (THP) with an efficiency of 16.65%.The new THP solar cells are eco-friendly and could be cheaper and quicker to produce compared to traditional silicon-based panels. The breakthrough could also have potential applications in lasers, sensors, and electronic devices, and even powering electric aircraft.
