SEBI, MIIs working on centralised FPI data portal

  • Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in collaboration with Market Intermediaries (MIIs) is developing a centralised Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) data portal.
  • The platform aims to consolidate various public data pertinent to FPIs, including registration processes, settlement timelines, monitoring rules, taxation, and operational guidelines from multiple intermediary websites.
  • Initially, the portal will contain static and publicly available data from MIIs' websites, with inputs from custodians, tax consultants, stock exchanges, clearing corporations, and depositories.
  • SEBI might introduce interactive functions for FPIs post-launch based on feedback, while efforts are ongoing to enhance the platform's user interface for ease of use. The initiative responds to FPIs' longstanding challenges in accessing consistent regulatory information.
