The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple have reached a $50 million settlement, bringing an end to their long-standing legal battle.
The agreement includes the dissolution of an existing injunction against Ripple and the release of $125 million held in escrow, with Ripple paying $50 million to the SEC.
The settlement also involves dropping appeals from both parties related to the case that started in December 2020 when the SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple over allegations of conducting an unregistered securities offering.
The XRP price increased by 5.2% following the news of the settlement, with the XRP community celebrating the development as the end of the legal drama.
