The Dutch Ministry of Defence has launched the SecFund, a €100 million investment fund, aimed at providing funding opportunities for Dutch startups, scale-ups, and SMEs developing technologies for civil and defence applications.
The fund follows the EIB guideline for investing in dual-use technology that benefits both civilian purposes and defence applications, and is implemented by the Regional Development Companies and managed by the Brabant Development Company.
SecFund targets innovative Dutch companies focused on advanced communication technologies such as LiFi and new generations of radio technology, with opportunities for funding of up to €5 million and additional investments based on progress and interest from Defence.
Tective Robotics, a Delft-based drone manufacturer, has become the first recipient of the SecFund investment, with application areas in defence and civil sectors including border mapping, critical infrastructure monitoring, and agricultural disease detection.
