The U.S. Secret Service is expanding its efforts to prevent cryptocurrency-related crimes through its Global Investigative Operations Center (GIOC).
The center has seized almost $400 million in digital assets over the last decade, with most of the funds in a single cold-storage wallet, making the Secret Service one of the largest crypto custodians globally.
The agency, led by Kali Smith, offers training workshops for law enforcement in over 60 countries, focusing on jurisdictions vulnerable to criminal misuse of cryptocurrencies.
The Secret Service has collaborated with industry players like Coinbase and Tether to recover stolen funds, with a significant recovery involving $225 million in Tether’s USDT stablecoin.
