Ogilvy Colombia develops a biodegradable packaging or plastic made of whey and cheese waste that decomposes in 300 days.
The prototype, named Self-Packing Cheese, uses bioplastic made of materials from cheese production, specifically whey, combined with microorganisms to produce a type of bioplastic called PHA.
The thin, plastic-like film of the packaging is created by processing small pellets of the biodegradable material with injected air, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic.
The project represents a step towards circular packaging, where materials can be reused, repurposed, or broken down naturally, reducing plastic waste and promoting environmental sustainability.
