Senate Committee Demands Better Internet & 911 Helpline for Underserved Areas

  • The committee discussed telecom services provided by the Universal Service Fund (USF), highlighted challenges such as security threats and bureaucratic hurdles, and emphasized the importance of enhancing communication infrastructure in remote areas.
  • In addition to focusing on service improvement projects, the committee called for transparency in cellular call rates, taxation details of telecom companies, and instructed the Ministry of IT to activate an offline 911 helpline and launch a nationwide emergency access awareness campaign.
