In 2013, Ferrari decided to split with longtime design firm Pininfarina, paving the way for the growth of its in-house design center, Centro Stile.
The decision to part ways with Pininfarina was made during the development of the LaFerrari, with upper management choosing Ferrari's in-house design over Pininfarina's.
Head designer Flavio Manzoni described the split as difficult for Pininfarina after more than 60 years of collaboration but necessary for Ferrari's evolution given the increasing technical complexity of cars.
Since the split, Ferrari has experienced significant success, growing its value nearly nine times after going public in 2015, expanding its product line with models like the Purosangue SUV, and planning to release its first electric vehicle in 2026.
