The newly completed Otaku Café in Abu Dhabi, designed by Shell + Core, draws influence from renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
The design blends raw materiality and fluid forms, creating an atmospheric experience that combines starkness of brutalist architecture with the softness of organic textures.
The café integrates the wabi-sabi philosophy, highlighting the natural aging and evolution of materials like wood, concrete, and stone.
The waterfront setting and intentional lighting create dynamic patterns that shift with changing light, while large plants define intimate zones within the overall open space.
