Sinclair becomes the first U.S. broadcaster approved to fly drones over people without FAA waiver.
Sinclair has reached a new milestone in drone journalism by getting approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fly drones over people and moving vehicles for news coverage.
The approval allows Sinclair to expand its aerial coverage of news events and deliver more compelling and dynamic storytelling.
Sinclair's nationwide drone program, in partnership with Virginia Tech, includes 148 FAA-certified drone pilots and 540 trained visual observers.
