Oman's inaugural pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, curated by Majeda Alhinai, explores adapting traditional communal space for contemporary urban life.
The exhibition, titled Traces, draws inspiration from the Sablah - a traditional Omani gathering space, and features a sinuous aluminum structure that blurs the lines between host and threshold.
The pavilion's design reflects the adaptability of the Sablah, using modular precision marked with ornamental gestures and references to Omani craft and vernacular infrastructure.
By connecting cultural memory and local intelligence to contemporary architecture, the Oman Pavilion showcases a social responsibility approach and will host talks and gatherings throughout the Biennale.
