Skype is Shutting Down on May 5th
- Skype service will be shutting down on May 5.
- Skype, originally created in 2003, was acquired by Microsoft in 2011.
- The split between 'classic' UI and the new interface caused by a user interface overhaul in 2017.
- Skype users are advised to either download their data or migrate their user account to Teams.
