Slate has received over 100,000 reservations for its affordable pickup truck, raising over $5 million in reservation fees.
Reservations for the truck cost $50 each and the pickup is expected to start at under $25,000 after federal incentives.
The company plans to produce up to 150,000 vehicles per year starting in 2027 at its factory in Indiana.
Despite high reservation numbers, previous examples from other companies like Cadillac and Fisker have shown that reservations don't always translate to actual sales.
