SpaceX has announced a new target date for Starship Flight 8, scheduled for Thursday, March 6, with a launch window opening at 5:30 p.m. CT.
The upcoming mission will follow a suborbital trajectory, deploying four Starlink simulators that will burn up on reentry. It will also include a single Raptor engine relight in space and reentry experiments.
Improvements to Starship include redesigned forward flaps, increased propellant volume, and stress tests on vulnerable spots. The Super Heavy booster features upgraded avionics and enhanced power and network distribution.
If health checks or final approval are not in place, the booster will default to a trajectory for a soft splashdown in the Gulf of America.
