Dungeons & Dragons company Wizards of the Coast apologized for mistakenly sending a legal takedown to the creator of a free Stardew Valley mod that adds a village inspired by and featuring characters from Baldur's Gate 3.
The mod was taken offline after a claim of copyright infringement was sent by a legal firm on behalf of Wizards of the Coast but has now been restored due to a player backlash.
Larian CEO Swen Vincke expressed his support for fan mods and highlighted that they should not be treated like commercial ventures that infringe on intellectual property.
The modders behind the Baldur's Village mod plan to expand it further, including introducing new features, items, and a romance storyline involving the character Halsin.
