Amazon's Project Kuiper, a rival to Starlink, plans to invest $20 million in Indonesia to expand its low earth orbit (LEO) connection service.
The initial investment will be used to build six gateway stations in the country, with a larger investment of up to $90 million planned by 2035.
Indonesia's Minister of Communication and Digital Application supports the project and aims to provide equal digital technology access to citizens in all locations.
Amazon has applied for operational permits and is processing telecommunications licenses and satellite leasing rights in Indonesia.
