Steel and ferro alloys industries in West Bengal seek CM Mamata Banerjee's help to reduce power tariff hike by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC).
The revised power tariff by WBERC sets the rate at Rs 4.64 per unit for 2025–26, with an additional Rs 1.36 per unit being charged for past arrears.
The stakeholders highlight the unaffordable 30% increase in tariff to Rs 6.80 per unit, advocating for a recovery of past arrears over six years to avoid tariff shocks.
They demand a forensic audit of extra charges imposed by DVC and urge CM's intervention to save the crucial industries in the state.
