Architecture firm Studio Gang has completed the John W Boyer Center in Paris, a mass-timber academic building and the firm's first project in France.
The building, designed as a vertical campus, features a hybrid timber-and-steel structure and a facade covered with limestone-covered fibreglass batons.
The design aims to amplify social connections and promote scholarly collaborations and cultural exchange between the University of Chicago and the city of Paris.
To adhere to Paris regulations requiring the use of natural materials, the building incorporates a mass timber grid and limestone sourced from local quarries.
